Dear Weston Tulip Dental Patients and Family,
We are excited to welcome you back to Weston Tulip Dental and we hope you know that your health has always been our primary concern. In fact, the well-being of our entire community is our priority. We are watching the spread of the COVID-19 carefully, and we are alert to the dangers it presents.
Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice, and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. We are following infection prevention and control guidelines in accordance with Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), Public Health of Ontario (PHO) and Ontario Dental Association (ODA) so that you and your family can receive safe and comfortable dental care.
We have taken the following measures to make sure our dental office is safe for everyone.
- Patient Screening Protocols
Before you visit our dental office, we screen patients for any signs of acute respiratory illness, including COVID-19. Please let us know if you have fever, cough, difficulty breathing AND any of the following:
- Do you have fever, cough, or difficulty breathing? OR
- Have you returned from travel to any country outside of Canada in the last 14 days? OR
- Have you had close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19? OR
- Have you had close contact with a person with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing?
We also perform a complete medical history so we know how healthy you are.
- Scheduling and Check-in
Please be on time for your appointment. We have taken care to strategically schedule appointments to reduce the number of people in the clinic.
We schedule our emergency dental patients all throughout the day to minimize the chance for patients meeting each other on their way in and out of our office. When you come into our office, you are immediately ushered into an enclosed dental suite that has a HEPA air and UVC light filter.
We limit the patients accompany to minors, people with disability or people who needs translator. We are doing this to limit the number of people in the waiting room.
- Temperature Check
We will take your temperature when you arrive at our clinic.
- Staff Screening
All dentists and staff are screened daily for COVID-19 symptoms.
- Making Hand Sanitizers and Face Masks Available to Patients
While in our dental office, we make available to patients, hand sanitizer and face masks for you to wear until you can see the dentist.
- HEPA Filter And UV-C Air Cleaning Systems
In each of our dental operatories and in our patient waiting area, we have installed medical grade SURGICALLY CLEAN air purifier that feature true HEPA Charcoal Filters and UV-C Light technology.
The Canadian HEPA Filter used in JADE air purifiers is tested in Canada in March 2020 for CORONAVIRUS and captures 99.99% of viruses as small as 0.1 microns such as CORONAVIRUS. The UV-C light technology kills airborne bacteria, viruses, germs and mold spores.
Surgically Clean Air's JADE Air Purifier is one of the World's Most Advanced Standalone Medical Grade Air Purifiers. It is designed with premium in mind, in its beautiful contemporary styling on the outside, its sophisticated technology on the inside by 6 stage of filtration, and its large capacity of airflow performance throughout.
Clinical research study shows that the Surgically Clean Air JADE (SCA5000C) Air Purifier has excellent performance in Hospitals, Medical Labs and Dental Clinics to clean and sterilize the indoor air.
- Infection Prevention Protocols That Meet RCDSO And Public Health Ontario Standards
Infection prevention and control (IPAC) is a critically important part of safe patient care required by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) and Public Health Ontario (PHO). It involves rigorous evidence-based practices in the dental office to prevent the spread if diseases. At Weston Tulip Dental, some of our IPAC protocols include:
- Strict adherence to hand hygiene practices before and after seeing dental patient.
- Wearing personal protective equipment including eye protection, face masks (such as), nitrile gloves, face shields, and gowns.
- Sterilizing reusable dental instruments under high heat and pressure and using disposable dental instruments wherever possible.
- Cleaning the dental suite with hospital-grade disinfectants after every dental patient.
- Fully Isolated Dental Operatories
All our dental operatories are closed concept and recently they are equipped with High quality glass doors with auto-closing system to avoid the spread of virus during the dental procedures into the common areas. This update assures the air filtration quality by air purifiers installed in each room.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
You will notice our clinical staff will look a bit different with all our PPE gear on. Our clinical staff will wear face-shields, gowns, face respirators with N95 filters, latex-free gloves and headcaps. We are still smiling underneath all the PPE!
